This weekend I went out of my comfort zone and did something I didn't think I'd ever do: A massive abseil. I signed up a few months ago, and before I knew it, it was the morning of my abseil and I was regretting my choice.

This is the Broadgate Tower - the building I decided to abseil down. I work on the 14th Floor, and it is one of the tallest buildings in London, at 540 ft high. The view from the top is absolutely incredible and I could see my house from it too, but my word, abseiling is SCARY!! When I got there before my abseil, I looked up and all I could do was swear and lost all colour in my face. Apparently I was incredibly pale and didn't say anything. In fact, here's a video describing my initial reaction. I saw it for the first time last night and burst out laughing at my reaction:

I'm usually ok with heights and after appreciating the view from the roof, I then realised just how high I was and what I had to do. I got to the edge and put my feet over the building, but NOTHING could have prepared myself for that feeling when you have to literally walk over the edge backwards, and dangle from just some rope.

But it was fine - I didn't die! I was attached to an expert, who came down with me and I have to admit, he was brilliant. He knew I was regretting my decision and knew exactly what to say and what I needed to hear to calm myself down.

Doing this abseil was a massive achievement for me. I enjoying it so much and the adrenaline I felt when my feet hit the ground is comparable to no other feeling I've ever had. I'm not going to lie, it was hard work. The rope was a tad still and the wind had me blowing all over the place.

But despite this, I am so glad that I did it. I was so proud of myself and knew that I had accomplished something. For the rest of my life, I'll be able to look at this building and I can say 'I conquered this'.

This video is my initial reaction - as in right after I got to the ground. I thought it'd be nice to have an honest reaction right as I landed my feet firmly on the floor. This is a reaction you can't fake at all.

And a reaction after I'd got my kit off and had a bit of a breather. But clearly I still hadn't got over the shock of exactly what I'd just done. It's another funny one.

I know my video said that I would never do another abseil again, but I said that in haste. Now that I've done this, I'm feeling pretty immortal, so I might have to do another one really soon. That feeling when you go over the edge is something else. Stepping over the edge is truly something else. It's scary, yes, but what a feeling it is. And dangling on a rope in the wind, with one of the best views in London - that's something I can't compare.

The initial video said that I didn't know what charity I was doing it for, but I'd forgotten in my panic. It is for the Mile End Wall, which helps promote development through challenging activities, especially for youth groups.

Oh my goodness, Sherin... I'm very glad to hear you're still alive after this crazy experience! Of course I know it was perfectly safe, you wouldn't have been allowed to do it if it weren't but still, it looks terrifying. Good for you - you couldn't pay me to get up there and do what you did :)
