Bargainous Fashion

In honour of London Fashion Week (not long now!!!) is giving away 3 pairs of gold tickets to London Fashion Weekend, as well as vouchers to plenty of top stores. All you have to do enter is post a picture of your thriftiest finds and share your bargaining tips, with a link back to vouchercodes.
This sounds like my kind of a competition, so how could I not enter?? Here's my entry.

I do love a good bargain, so naturally didn't have much trouble putting together a bargainous outfit. The dress was bought from the Max C sale (£10), my tights were really cheap, from Primark (£2, I think), and my shoes are Steve Maddens that I found in a charity shop for £10 (Dear Tanvi, I'm sorry I keep talking about shoes, hehe. It's a disease I appear to have...)

Anyway: here are my tips of hunting a good bargain:

  • Don't be too picky about where you shop: I used to be a Primark snob, and then I actually ventured in and picked up some good bargains. I found my dream skirt there and, have to admit that, Primark are the only place in the whole world where I've managed to find fun tights/socks at good prices. Just because it's cheap doesn't mean that it's not a good product.
  • Be patiant in charity shops: I live near a few really good second hand stores and have found some great stuff over the years. But it does take patience and there'll be times when you go in, spend hours, and still find nothing. It does take time to find a good bargain, so you need to spend a lot of time going through racks and rails.
  • Wait for sales: When you see your dream item, but at a ridiculous price, it may be worth waiting until sale season. I've waited for sale season on lots of items that I've liked, and most of them have eventually been on sale. And I'm doing this right now as well. I've spotted my dream cardi from Vans, but it's a bit too pricey, at £50. I'm going to wait until the Christmas sales, and hopefully, it'll be at least a little bit cheaper.
  • Buy online: It may sound weird, but I have seen things cheaper online than in store. Not neccessarily clothes, but I have seen music, from HMV, cheaper online, and they don't even charge for Postage and Packaging.  So it is always worth a look online, before you actually buy something.
  • Do your research: For trend pieces, so many shops tend to sell similar items, that it's definitely worth a look at other shops before you immediately buy. You can find key pieces at the likes of New Look, H&M, Topshop, River Island, Forever21 etc, so it's good to know how much other places are charging for the same thing. And some of the stores may even have a sale or special offer on that item.

The competition ends on 16th September so get a move on if you want to enter.

And definitely share all your bargaining tips.

Sherin xx

I'm still not the greatest fan of Primark for all it's ethical reasons..,but then again, it's hard to escape things like that and there's no doubt that Topshop and the like might have some dodgy dealings going on too...

I love your dress, it is beautiful. Some great tips too. I am afraid I am a Primark snob though. Mainly because I am unsure about how ethical they are.
