Firstly, a note to the person who was dissappointed that we didn't post enough fashion. I'm sorry you feel that way, I really am. I suppose we never classified this as a fashion-only blog. We cover all sorts, such as travel and what we've been up to, instead of sticking to just one thing. I think that if we just wrote about fashion all the time, I would have gotten bored writing this blog a long time ago.

Anyway, I was lucky enough to get Press Passes for the IMATS show that took place in London over the weekend. Leia, sadly, couldn't make it because of work she needed to get done. It took place at Alexandra Palace, which is my favourite place in London. Its pretty much a 5 minute drive from my house, so I was able to spend the whole day at IMATS.

I spent about 5 hours there and boy did I have fun!! There were lots of different make up stalls and lots of interesting people to talk to, not to mention, lots of shows and presentations.

The first thing I did was catch a show about live casting using Silicone. It was really interesting to see how body casting was done. They basically got a guy, and covered his hair in Nivea, so that the Silicone wouldn't stick. They then covered him in the silicone paste and then put bandages on him. Once settled, the bandages were easy to take off and made a pretty cool cast. All this took under half an hour! I was really impressed.
The pictures explain the process better:

After this, I thought I'd walk around and get to know a few of the exhibitors a bit better. I spoke to people from Yaby Cosmetics, MUD, Naked and Make up International. Check back in a few days and I'll have iformation up about each company, as well as reviews on some of their products. I am trying to get a lot more into make up, and going to IMATS and meeting such cool people was such a great way to get into it more.

There was also a display from the Make up Museum, and I had a great time looking through some of the stuff there!

Every year at IMATS, they have a Students Competition. This was definitely my favourite part of the show. Every year, 8 competitors are selected to take part. This years theme was Alice in wonderland , based on the re-imagined movie by Tim Burton. Watching these young make up artists work was brilliant; they were so talented. All the models looked absolutely exceptional. After the competition, the models walked around, showcasing the work and they looked so remarkable. Here were my favourites:

I then met up with Nicola from FAB. It was great catching up with her again and we had a lot of fun checking out all the make up and different things going on.
We also had an amazing time perving on guys, lol.

These were both being done at the MAC stalls.

This is from the Academy of Freelance Make up.

A highlight of the day was meeting Eve Pearl! She was an amazing woman and was really very nice. For those of you who don't know her, she's an award winning make up artist. I was lucky enough to get a few words with her. She explained why she started this company and what its goals are: The company focuses on cosmetics and skincare. She started it because she was having skin issues and found it really complicated navigating through all the make up out there. Her make up line is for women of all skin complexions and its aim is to make life easier for all women to buy skin and make up products. It also wants to educate women about these products as well as making every woman feel really good.

It was such a great event and was very interesting. At some of the stalls there were people putting on amazing make up and effects and once finished, the models walked around looking pretty cool. It was so much fun walking around and seeing people so beautifully made up.

If you're into make up at all, I definitely recommend you to go. They do 5 shows a year around the globe (London, Sydney, Toronto, Vancouver & LA). There are a huge varitey of companies selling products, such as MAC and Crown Brushes, and there are Presidents of a lot of companies walking around. Products at IMATS are actually a lot cheaper than their standard retail price.
It is also really interesting to see some of the exhibitions, such as the ones that show you how special effects make up, such as prosthetics, are done.

I did take dozens of pictures and I haven't put some of the really cool ones up on this post. For more pictures, check out my
I'll also be reviewing some of the products that I picked up as soon as I can, as well as giving information about each of the companies I spoke to.

Sherin xx

P.S. I have a hectic couple of weeks coming up! Don't worry, there'll still be loads of posts, but most of them will be reviews and summaries of various events that we're going to.

Sorry sherin, I didn't mean to hurt you or anything. To answer your question if you are a fashion blog or not? I would say please*** look at the name! HI FASHION! " I guess i don't have to explain myself anymore. Today's blog is good and i expect same in near future minus childish posts like today's ( I am sorry bla bla) Good luck.

This was a really interesting post, Sherin! My favourite kinds of blogs are ones that stray from their subject at times, it gives a better flavour.

I'd never have thought to look up pictures from this show, either, but seeing them here I'm inspired to take a better look, maybe find out more about the show next year.

Oh pee off to whoever said that about your blog! One of the main reasons I come back to this place time and time again is because of the variety in your posts.

This fashion event looked so much fun btw - can't think of anything better than half naked men covered in body paint!
