From the Office to the Cricket

I've just graduated from university and got my first real adult job. Its a 2 week internship at an events company and my role is calling up clients all day (and getting the boss coffee), amongst other little tasks. It's really been a long 2 weeks, and I was suprised with how little time I had for fun stuff (I was left with 100+ posts to catch up on on blogloving after just a few days!) But when I started, I had no idea what to wear. I've had part time jobs before, but none where it was a real office or where I had to wear formal clothes.
I had hell deciding what to wear on my first day (although I'll admit it was so much harder to dress on Fridays where it's casual day).
I decided when I was younger never to wear a proper suit to work, and to look fashionable at work. I never want to fall into that rut of looking boring. I settled on formal trousers and nice tops.

Here are a few examples of what I've been wearing.
I've been keeping it professional, but not too much.

(Pic 1: Zara top, Jane Norman Trousers, Pic 2: New Look top, Dorothy Perkins trousers, and these shoes in both photos, Pic 3: Dress from a shop near my house and New Look shoes...and my favourite outfit of the internship)

I do want to thank Financia
l Services is not Fashion for her great style, which helped me get the look that I want. She has an amazing style and shows that you can look great as well as professional. Also thanks to College Fashion for the What to Wear to Work article.

I got an afternoon off work to go watch the Cricket at Lords. We've had these tickets for months, so it was not an option to miss the game because of work. I had to get changed in the rubbish toilets at work. Here's the outfit I changed into on my lunch break:

(Converses, H&M troushers and Hollister t-shirt)

I'll be honest, I froze. It was a cool afternoon, but because the weather had been so nice recently, I thought it'd clear didn't. I was forced to wrap a flag around my leg...not a good look.
It felt good having an afternoon off and just relaxing. Thats what I love about cricket games...just sitting there in the non-existant sun watching a good sport being played.

What do you guys wear to work? I know I could do with a bit more inspiration. And I'm sure I'm not the only one in the blogging world who's watching the 20-20 Cricket tournament...

So so so many women fall into the trap of wearing a black suit with a pastel top and it looks awful!!! Not many women can wear black (sort of sadly, I can...). I like suits but I want to find ones with interest, which aren't too dull. I won't be able to never wear a suit (I'm going to be a lawyer!). Love your outfits, they're very appropriate. For me, I plan to wear quite plain outfits but with interesting details, like a little bit of sculpture. That's pretty much what I want my wardrob to be like anyway, so it won't be that hard! Dresses are also good for work.

I didn't go to the cricket, but a friend of mine did! She was horrified at how expensive the Pimms was (£8 for a pint!) but had a really really good day!

Great outfits, I can't believe I'm going to be starting a 'real' job in a couple of months, so I am on the look out for as much inspiration as I can find at the moment!

Well! I've been working for three years now and I usually go to work like your first pictures... almost black and comfortable flats, sometimes skirts and very rare times like the last pictures... but you will be getting your own style when time passes... Good luck!!

I love the last work outfit best; I can tell that you feel the most yourself in it! :)

I will be in London almost the whole month of July, I'm going to have to pack clothes for all types of weather it seems.

nice looks maybe you can try incorporating a little colors with the shoes or add interesting blazers

Congrats on the job!
You look lovely, and perfect for work. It says casual without being frumpy.
I like high waisted pencil skirts for work - they look chic but are still trendy at the same time :)
Congrats again on the job!

Congratulations on the job. I think I like look # 1 the best. There's something about the color gray that makes me giddy - love those trousers! :)

Congrats on the new job! I like the 3rd outfit more than the first 2 because it has an edgy look into it. I'm an official bum for almost 2 yrs. now and so I've no idea what to wear to work nowadays. But during those yrs. that I've been working, it's been mostly casual because later we had to change into working clothes, it's a food company. If you'll feel bored, just spice them up with colorful accessories. That always works for me. :)
